Why I Built ZeroTheory: A Founder's Manifesto on AI, Transparency, and Real Education
By Kundan Khatri·April 4, 2026·8 min read
Two years ago, I watched 10,000 students download learning apps promising to turn them into AI engineers. Not one of them finished.
Here's why ZeroTheory is different. Real feedback. Real speed. Real transparency.

Not a single one finished
Two years ago, I watched 10,000 students download learning apps promising to turn them into AI engineers. Not one of them finished.
The apps were pretty. The videos were polished. The gamification was addictive. But here's what killed them all:
Students had no idea if they were actually learning.
A student would spend 40 hours on "Advanced Python" and think they'd mastered it. They'd submit a project. Human reviewers would take 2 weeks to respond. Then came the feedback: "Good effort, but your error handling is weak."
No explanation. No path forward. No confidence. So they quit.
✨ How ZeroTheory Solves It
⚡
30 Seconds
Claude AI evaluates your code instantly. Not weeks. Not minutes. Seconds.
📊
Real Score (0-100)
No curves. No participation trophies. Just the truth about your code.
📈
Actionable Feedback
Here's what broke. Here's why. Here's how to fix it. Tomorrow.
Three Principles I Won't Compromise On
1. Real Feedback (No Participation Trophies)
When you submit a project, Claude evaluates it against production standards. You get:
- A score (0-100, no curve)
- What you did well (specific)
- What broke (with examples)
- How to fix it (actionable)
No "Great effort!" nonsense. Just truth.
2. Speed Over Gatekeeping
Human code review takes 2 weeks and costs ₹5,000/project. Most students can't afford that.
AI evaluation takes 30 seconds and costs us ₹0.05. So every project is evaluated. Every submission gets feedback. Every student can iterate in hours instead of weeks.
3. Transparency Is Non-Negotiable
Here's what we disclose:
- When AI evaluated your work (and which model)
- Exactly what prompt we sent to Claude
- How confident the evaluation is (percentage)
- All data encryption, storage, retention policies
- The cost to us (₹0.05/eval) and to you (₹0)
- Every way you can opt out, download, or delete your data
Why Transparency Matters
Last month, a prospect asked: "Can you remove the AI Disclosure from your homepage? It scares customers away."
I said no. If transparency scares them away, they're the wrong customer.

The Decentralized Dream
Today, ZeroTheory is centralized. In 2–3 years, I want to change that. The vision:
- Blockchain certificates (Polygon) that prove you completed projects
- IPFS-hosted portfolios (you own them, we just display them)
- Open-source evaluation agents (so anyone can verify our scores)
- Anonymous peer review (students reviewing students, incentivized with crypto)
To Every Student Reading This
You don't have to trust me. You should trust the system.
- ✅ Read our Privacy Policy (it's boring but important)
- ✅ Try the free tier (see if the feedback is useful)
- ✅ Delete your account if you want (we'll give you all your data)
- ✅ Opt out of AI (request human review instead)
The Bet
I'm betting that students want honest feedback, want speed, want transparency, and that companies want graduates who can actually code.
If I'm right, ZeroTheory will be huge. If I'm wrong, at least I'll have built something I'm proud of.
